Interested in Earth Tones?

One way to make a home more inviting is to add earth tones. Both trendy and classic, they’ll add a warm touch to space. At Blind Builders serving Feasterville, we know that color can be intimidating. But it doesn’t have to be! Read below for some of our thoughts on earth tones and ways you can easily incorporate them into your home.

Benefits of Earth Tones

The colors of nature, earth tones can add a sense of balance and calm to a home, creating a space that welcomes. They are considered friendly, contemporary, and inviting. Usually used in living and family rooms, earth tones also work well in bedrooms and kitchens.

Adding Earth Tones

Much like the earth itself, earth tones are widely varied, so be ready for some trial and error as you try to find the right combination for your room. To begin, choose a palette you like, by finding colors that will pair well. We’ve seen people choose palettes like ivory with terracotta,  red brick with ashy gray, tan with forest green, and dusty mauve with beige. Start by following nature’s lead: use muted outdoorsy colors, like warm browns (think dirt) with olive (think fall leaves). Avoid colors that are glossy or shiny, because they’ll look unnatural. Be sure that your larger pieces, such as a rug or bedding, are in the muted tones. Be sure to add texture to help your earth tones pop more. You can use texture in wallpaper or a landscape print or through decorations made with burlap, cement, or wood or ones that are woven. Feel free to layer to make the space feel more intentional. Adding side panels beside existing window treatments can add visual interest.

Window Fashions for the Aesthetic

At Blind Builders, we carry a number of window fashions that can match or add to your new earth tone palette. If you’re going for a natural look, think about Provenance® Woven Wood Shades, which are made from woven bamboo, woods, reeds, or grasses. Or consider Vignette® Roman Shades, which come in over 25 fabric and color choices and will add a sense of elegance and style. And Designer Screen Shades are a good option for their clean lines and neutral colors, to balance your look and bring attention to your room.
