Options for Faux Blinds
Searching for window fashions can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. When you work with Blind Builders here in Feasterville, you’ll always get knowledgeable advice, excellent solutions, and high-quality Hunter Douglas products. We want to make the process as easy as possible, starting with understanding your options. If you’re considering blinds for your windows, be sure to consider faux wood—learn about the benefits below, and be sure to speak with one of our consultants to see them in person.
Faux Compared to Genuine Wood
Genuine wood offers great aesthetics and style, but it isn’t always right for all situations. Windows that get hit with lots of direct sunlight or windows in humid rooms (like a bathroom or kitchen) aren’t the best place for genuine wood because it can fade, crack, or warp. However, faux wood, which is also lighter than genuine wood, can withstand the elements and is guaranteed not to warp, crack, or peel, even in some of those tougher window locations.
Meet a Hunter Douglas Option
Everwood® Alternative Wood Blinds are durable and aesthetically pleasing. They work well for high-traffic areas (like sliding doors, patio doors, or kids’ rooms) and will resist warping, bowing, yellowing, and fading. If you choose 2″ blinds, you’ll have great view-through, so if you’re looking to preserve your panorama, this could be the route to go. Best of all, they’re easy to clean—all you have to do is dust the slats with a soft cloth or use your vacuum’s brush attachment.
Measure for Your Blinds
Ordering from Blind Builders means you’ll always get professional measurement and installation to ensure the perfect fit; however, sometimes it’s nice to have an idea ahead of time of how the treatment will sit, so here’s how to measure on your own. First, determine whether you’ll want the blinds mounted inside your window frame or outside of it. An inside mount will be more flush against the window, helping to cut down on light coming in. An outside mount will cover the entire frame and add dimension to the room. Remember that not all windows are perfectly square, so measure horizontally at the center, top, and bottom; vertically on both sides and in the center; and diagonally. Finally, measure the depth of the frame to know if it’s large enough to fit the treatment, and take into account any window hardware (like handles) that could get in the way.
