2025 Pantone Color of the Year

Trending Color for 2025

Have you noticed that, each year, color trends seem to be everywhere? Like in clothes, in makeup, in automobiles, and more? Sure, you might see “color of the month/year/week/day” from smaller companies, but the place that really sets the trends you see all around is the Pantone Color Institute, which announces a new Color of the Year annually. At Blind Builders, we know that many of our customers can be intimidated by color—both by how to use it in their homes and by which colors to use—so frequently, this annual announcement can really help people in their interior design. Check out the color below, as well as some ideas for how to add it to your space.

How the Color Is Selected

Selecting the Color of the Year takes approximately nine months. The staff at Pantone Color Institute explores a variety of industries to collect what they refer to as “proof points.” They review the latest from the auto industry, designer runways, and interior decorating showcases. Once they identify the trends, they narrow down the choices. For the past 20 years, the Pantone Color of the Year has inspired manufacturers in industries such as home furnishings, window coverings, industrial design, fashion, and more. Through things like trend forecasts and color psychology, the Pantone Color Institute helps global brands design products that call on the power and emotion of color.

This Year: Mocha Mousse

This hue is all about comfort, with tones reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. Called a “warming brown…imbued with richness,” Mocha Mousse recalls simple pleasures. Leatrice Eastman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, notes that Mocha Mousse “extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.”

How to Add Mocha Mousse to Your Home

With this trending color (as with any color, really), you can a little or you can add a lot. To be more subtle in your approach (and to see how you feel about the color in general), simply add pops of it throughout the room. You can find fun throw pillows, throw rugs, or wall décor that will bring Mocha Mousse to your space, or you can add vases, knick-knacks, or tableware. If you want to be more bold, add the color in wallpaper or paint on your walls. Consider adding colors from the complementary palette as well, using floral colors like violet, rose tan, and willow green, as well as earthy tones like cream, tan, and amber. Your window fashions can add depth and dimension too, especially if you choose a complementary color. Options from Hunter Douglas include Designer Roller Shades, screen shades, Vignette® Modern Roman Shades, and Sonnette® Cellular Roller Shades. Or layer your windows by adding drapery or side panels to already existing coverings to add drama to the window. Talk to one of our representatives to look at options for your home today!
